By David McKee I love cheesecake. My wife makes the fluffiest, creamiest, most delectable cheesecake I have ever tasted, slightly browned at the edges, delicious light yellow, dripping with cherries or blueberries. There is no store-bought cheesecake that can hold a candle to it. Yet companies like "The Cheesecake Factory" or "Junior's Cheesecakes" make literal fortunes selling cheesecakes at $50.00 apiece not including the shipping! Those store-bought or Internet bought cheesecakes are good, but my wife can makes them so much better. And this got me to thinking: Cheesecakes mass produced under the most ideal conditions are still inferior to those made with love by wives and grandmothers everywhere. What does this mean for the Internet marketer? It means a lot, because it points to new niche markets. Can you get several grandmothers to produce a few cheesecakes each? You pay them 15 dollars for every one they produce. They win because they produce as much as they want, and in some cases that may be something that gives them a new purpose! There are so many widows and others who, having retired and having families that have moved away, have time. Some may need a few extra dollars too. You have your own product resource here, a freelance cheesecake factory if you will. And don't stop there, what else can be produced in this way? Knitting? Gifts? Crafts? Cookies? Fried Chicken? You can sell these obviously superior products online and ship them anywhere in the country, and if you use Ebay as an example, you can do it without even having to set up your own web-presence, just create an Ebay store! You see older retired people may not want to bother with running their own business, but they may want to feel useful and to get a few dollars for it as well makes it even sweeter. Why not? Everyone wins: The customer gets a superior product, the retired person gets worth and dollars, and you make money with your on-line business. By the way, Colonel Sanders started KFC when he was over 60! He "invented" something called "home meal replacement" selling complete meals to busy, time-strapped families and called it "Sunday Dinner, Seven Days a Week." Could you have some grandparents or others create complete meals, store them with dry-ice and ship them using the Internet? And no matter what the Mass producers say, properly positioned and skilful marketing will pit them against "Grandma"! Not an enviable position for them, but a great place for the savvy marketer. Niches are funny things... They typically exist right in front of you unrecognized by almost everyone, but one thing I have noticed, they always seem to exist close to un-used resources. This is a case where there is unused wisdom and experience, in our elderly population and amongst those who have skills and abilities but perhaps not the time or energy for full-time employment. If you can use Internet technology to leverage these resources, you can create wealth where nobody ever thought to look for it. David McKee is a freelance copywriter and a Software engineer.

Honesty Accepted - Deception Denied
By Linda Reeves We've all done it at one time or another, or will do it sometime in the future. Regardless of when you do it, just remember you will get caught eventually and when you do, you cannot bury your head in the sand. Too bad there are not strict policies, punishable by law in association with the internet wherein something could be written and implemented along the lines of "Truth in Online Dating". Who am I kidding, people have lied from the beginning of time and will continue to do so until Hell freezes over and even when caught some will continue to do so at our expense. Bastards!
Remember the old video rental mantra "Be Kind, Rewind"? Some of you may be too young to remember that but the sentiment still applies. For this subject, lets use, oh I don't know, how about "You Lie, You Die", hmmmmm, maybe not, too blatant. Oh wait, I know, "Honesty Accepted, Deception Denied". Anyway, the point here is to be honest in all you say and do. Have you ever stretched the truth or told an out and out blatant lie? Tell me how many more lies did you have to tell to cover your ass from the original lie? Life is too short to waste all your time and energy covering your ass. Do it right and do it honestly the first time. So, you are asking yourself, what is this crazy woman's point? OK, OK, the point is, when you are creating a profile, be it just for your screen name or for an "Online Dating Site" be honest. Describe yourself as you see yourself, if you are 5'5" don't list that you are 5'10", if you weigh 210 don't list your weight as 135. Be real, have you ever spent endless hours talking to someone and envisioned what they looked like based on the picture and physical description posted on their profile only to find the picture is 10 yrs old, they have gained 50 pounds and are 6 inches shorter than what they indicated. It has happend to me, and I was pissed, aggravated and disappointed. And, yes, I have done it myself and when it came time to meet the person I felt really bad about the lies I had told and fessed up. We met anyway and in this instance we became very good friends, but, it doesn't always work out that way. If you are going to share personal information, be very cautious, be generic, but honest. If you plan on meeting this person and who knows, maybe start a relationship, don't sabotage it with lies. A good relationship, romantic or friendship is based on trust and honesty. Start off on the right foot, and maintain a certain mystery about yourself to pique their interest, remember any embellishments will be exposed, relationships destroyed and in most cases the trust is gone forever. Simple advice......tell the truth no matter how bad it sounds, your honesty will be welcomed and very much appreciated not to mention the open doors that result from that same honesty. Honesty is sexy and appealing and lies, well, they are boring, unattractive and get you nowhere, but caught! Those of you that are lying to someone right now, come clean, spill the beans, maybe you can be forgiven, maybe not, but you can start fresh from here.....the point of honesty and truth in Online Dating and every aspect of your life. It is much less complicated to tell the truth than it is to cover a lie. Linda Reeves is a 47 year old columnist for Cupids Blackbook, she lives in the American Midwest. Collecting Antique Glass and Porcelain Insulators
By Glyn Farber Looking for something interesting, beautiful and low cost to collect, then try antique insulators. Insulators have been used ever since Samuel Morse transmitted the first telegraph message over a short telegraph line along a railroad between Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, MD in 1844. Glass insulators were first manufactured in the 1850s for use with telegraph lines that were rapidly expanding across America. In the 1920s electricity and telephone signals moved over open copper wire. At each pole glass insulators were used starting this popular hobby of insulator collecting. Insulators come in many sizes, shapes and colors. They were made of many different types materials including rubber, porcelain, pottery, glass, composition, fiberglass, metal, wood and mica. Glass and porcelain insulators are extensively collected by manufacturer and color. Glass insulators are usually found marked with a manufacturer or users name embossed on the insulator such as Hemingray No.9. made by the Hemingray Glass Company that was located in Muncie, Indiana. The American Telephone and Telegraph Co. embossed their insulators with AM TEL & TEL Co. Most insulators were marked on their crown or skirt. Armstrong's, Brookfield, California, Diamond, Dominion, Hemingray, Kerr, Lynchburg, Maydwell, NEGM and Whitall Tatum are some of the more common names found on glass insulators. There are a wide variety of insulators made of porcelain, ceramic, stoneware and other related materials. Collectors primarily focus on pin-types and insulators used on early radio receiver antennas. Manufacturer names to look for are Cook, Jobson Bros., Johns-Manville, Fred M Locke, New Westminster and Varley. You can determine the age of an antique insulator by looking for any marking stamped or embossed on its surface. Sometimes the approximate age can be determined by a patent date on the insulator. The last glass insulator manufacturer in the United States was Kerr, located in Millville, NJ. Kerr stopped producing insulators in 1979. Value is determined by many factors such as condition, manufacturer, quantity made, color, age and demand by collectors. The best place to buy antique insulators is eBay. Glyn Farber has published a catalog of all known Hickey Brother Cigar Store Tokens and co-authored a book about Louisiana Trade Tokens. In addition he wrote several articles for The Token and Medal Society (TAMS) and The National Token Collectors Association (NTCA). Wedding Dresses - Online Purchasing, Tailoring
By Eric Hartwell Buying a wedding dress should be done slowly and with several choices from bridal stores in the High Street. However, online bridal shops are also handy if you want to have a variety of designs and style. With the advent of technology, shopping online is also an option for the bride. But you should make sure that you know your size very well when you opt to buy online since you cannot see the dress first hand. Many online stores will have a facility for return of the dress if the fit or style is not as you would have hoped. This technique is best for getting ideas on the different styles and trend of wedding dresses but may not be good for purchasing one it is for you to decide. An ideal and near-perfect wedding dress also need lots of money. Be generous enough in spending cash for the most important dress of your life. You will be wearing it once and you dont want that one moment to be regretted. Opting for tailoring your wedding dress is also possible. With this, you will be able to put your personal taste and design to your wedding dress. This can add meaning to the dress, style and occasion. If you choose this option, make sure that you work with an expert so that the final product is just what you want it to be. Make sure that you start early with the tailoring too so that any mistake can be dealt with accordingly. Ask help from experts and read magazines that specialize with this kind of product so that you can be guided properly. Seek opinions from your friends. Overcoming Inertia in Job Change
By Peter Fisher If you can hold on to an optimistic belief in the possibility of success, you have a very powerful motivator of change. But not everyone can, or will need help to do that as some are naturally more optimistic than others.
It can be especially difficult to be optimistic if you are feeling a little hurt or bruised following redundancy, but even when you know you need the change it can be difficult to get going. Just take a look at the stages: Stages of Change 1) Thinking About Thinking About It 2) Thinking About It 3) Preparing For It 4) Acting Upon It 5) Maintaining It 1) Thinking About Thinking About It You do not really want to consider a new job at all and you will actively resist if you feel pressured or coerced into changing.
You perhaps know you should be looking but you arent really committed to job hunting.
You may be giving it some half-hearted thought because of pressure from others you really ought to get another job but you do not want to take it any further. Im not going to bother with job hunting. Ive got my redundancy money now, so Ive no real need to work. This response is OK if youve got enough money for the rest of your life or until your pension kicks in. 2) Thinking About It
You do see a need for change and you may be considering making a change sometime or perhaps when youre quite ready. Which isnt yet?
You are starting to contemplate and weigh the pros and cons of change.
I suppose I should look for a job, I could get bored doing nothing
I need some mental stimulation to keep the old grey cells working
If someone offered me a job Id consider it. I just cant face the thought of job-hunting 3) Preparing For It
Youve made a preliminary decision and youre preparing to make a change and look for the new job.
This stage involves both the psychological intention to change and the initial practical steps towards the change.
You now need to develop and enhance your plan and consider the consequences. 4) Acting upon It
You now start taking concrete behavioural steps, seeking information and following advice on practical strategies and activities.
You are now actively job-hunting. You are thinking about your skills and experience as well as getting your CV up to date. You start a file to chart your applications and other activities. 5) Maintaining It
You have started your job search process and are now making efforts to maintain the momentum of your campaign. You are applying for jobs, networking with contacts and attending interviews.
You soon recognise that it can be disheartening and that your confidence can waver after the initial enthusiasm. Try not to lose heart, a lack of early success can lead to a loss of motivation; but persistence, patience and perseverance will always pay off with the result you want. Summary
Motivation is necessary for successful job hunting.
No-one but you is going to make you job hunt, and no-one but you can make it successful. However if you use good advice carefully, you will get the result you need. With over 25 years running businesses; and as a Career Coach, Peter Fisher is well placed to guide job seekers through the steps needed in order to achieve that all important new position. He has personally coached thousands of individuals to career success. His distillation of these years of experience with all the essential facts and actions you must complete in order to achieve your own success is outstanding. He is very clear that you shouldnt be misled into thinking of acing interviews or finessing your way into a business; the most sustainable and fulfilling roles are gained through understanding your own specific needs and creating your strategy accordingly. The Whys and Habits of Anxiety & Panic Disorder
By Joanne King Just about everyone asks themselves why? Why did I get this? And chances are, you probably already have a fair idea of what possibly triggered it. I know for myself, I had a medical condition that played a huge factor into my trigger. I was obsessed with my health. I believe it was the ultimate root cause that triggered it off. But I also know it wasnt the only contributing factor. Looking back at it, I was in a high profile job where I was working 12 to 16 sometimes even 18+ hours in a day. I didnt get a lunch break (managers were not permitted to have lunch breaks in my industry). Plus I was living with my in-laws. I know they always meant well, but there was definitely a huge stress factor that came with living with the in-laws. I felt restricted, like I couldnt relax and just be myself. Between work and home, I felt stressed majority of the time. So if you REALLY feel you NEED to know why this has triggered in you, chances are you dont have to look hard. Look at the stresses in your life when it all began. Maybe you had a traumatic experience when you were younger and something re-triggered those memories for you? Maybe it was a divorce? Or a death in your family? Over-worked? Maybe you had money problems? The list could go on and on Stress WILL cause unpleasant tension and sensations in your body. It can mirror other medical problems. Anxiety and Panic Disorder was born when you concentrated on all these sensations. It became a habit (an unhealthy one at that). But because it is a habit, a habit that you created, you have the ability to take it back. We all have habits/rituals. Some good, some bad. You can ultimately decide which ones you want to keep. What do you do before you go to bed each night? I bet you lock all your doors and switch all the lights off yes? Thats a habit. A healthy one you should keep. It keeps the thieves out and saves money on your electricity bill. Anxiety and Panic makes you feel bloody awful. It has no good side effects. It restricts you from leading your normal day in and day out life (or at least makes it more difficult then need be). So kick this habit, starting now! You can and will eliminate it if you choose to take action and correct it. Joanne King - http://www.anxiety-panic-free.com Free sign up of our newsletter! Want a Good Money Management Strategy? Buy a Used Car
By Paul Tobey My father is a fairly well-to-do businessman. As a kid growing up, I never understood why Dad never bought a new car. He always came home with a used car and I thought it was because we were poor. As an adult, I now understand that buying a used car was part of Dads overall wealth planning strategy. Did it work? Well, hes retired comfortably, wealthy, and still driving used cars. Now, as a kid, I had no idea what depreciation meant. Now that Im older and wiser I realize that once you drive your new car off the lot, the value drops dramatically. Generally speaking, a new car can lose 30% of its value in the first two years of ownership. To my Dad, this was clearly a waste of money. So, why not buy gently used, and let someone else swallow the 30% loss? Dad had a theory about good money making habits; pay cash for things that depreciate and use credit for things that appreciate. A car depreciates so if you can, pay cash. Things like real estate, antiquities, art and investments appreciate so, for these things its OK to borrow money. I have yet to own a new car. Id like to someday but invariably, I inherited my Dads logic on money management. So recently I paid cash for my gently used Cadillac. It may not have had that new car smell but, it felt new, it had low mileage, a great history, and I fell in love with the experience of driving a Cadillac. And, because Im self-employed, the car and all the expenses are a tax write off. Should I ever get land on hard times, I dont have to worry about the vehicle as a burden. Its an asset that I can sell at any time. Before you buy new or used, have a look at the financing options available to you and decide which option makes more money making sense to your current situation. Whether you are paying cash, leasing or financing, you really need to research how a new or used purchase helps your overall money management strategy. For example; for people with a poor credit history due to divorce, bankruptcy, a business failure etc, a car loan may actually help you repair your damaged credit. I makes both short term and long term sense to work with a reputable used car dealership that can help you achieve your credit repair goals. A good cash down payment will help keep those monthly payments lower, and a small manageable monthly payment plan will go a long way to helping rebuild your credit. So, if you are buying a used car, here my ten top tips to consider before you go shopping: 1. Have clarity on what you can afford. Know your budget! 2. Should you need financing, make certain you know what you are cleared for before you go shopping! 3. Save up your money for the deposit and have the deposit ready in case you find what you are looking for! 4. If you know the make and model you want, call your insurance company ahead of time to get a quote to make certain this is in line with your monthly budget. For example: 2 door cars are often considered sports cars by insurance companies, and may be much more expensive to insure over a 4 door family vehicle. 5. Make sure you buy from a reputable dealer 6. As a rule of thumb, look for cars with low mileage. I recommend under 60 thousand km. 7. Test Drive your car to make certain you love it! Check everything: body condition (check for rust), high speeds, low speeds, wiper, radio, air conditioner, heater, reverse, engine, sunroof etc. Make certain it has all the likings you want! 8. Once you found the car you love, get the vehicle checked out by a reputable mechanic. Make certain they check for rust, evidence of accidents, or any major parts that could result in being a potentially expensive problem such as engine, suspension, steering, brakes, tires, etc. Ask about the vehicle history and warranties. 9. Be knowledgeable about the price. Research the price on the web or via other dealers to make certain you are getting a fair price. 10. Finally, make sure you negotiate. It never hurts to try and negotiate even if youre not any good at it. Chances are youll get a deal just for asking. 5 Ways to Turn Window Shoppers Into Paying Customers
By Michael P Brown 1.) Make them an offer they can't refuse: Give away a Free gift. Like a free ebook. A free consultation. A free gift certificate. A free dinner. A free resource. Free information that is valuable. In fact, information is one of the most valuable things you can give to someone for Free. And the best part about giving away free information is that it usually doesn't cost you anything to give it away. Bottom line is this. If you're going to make an offer they can't refuse then make sure its worth it. Make sure its something your target customer wants. If it's something they want then you will likely be turning another window shopper into a paying customer. 2.) Make your offer for a limited time: A limited time offer creates a sense of urgency in your targeted customer. You want to make them feel like they have to get it now, or they won't get it later. It also makes your offer seem more important. Also, the more specific you are about exactly when the offer ends - the greater sense of urgency you create in your target customer. Examples: Limited time offer: If you call within the next 48 hours you will get (product name) at 50% off. or The next 50 calls will receive a brand new Rolex watch. Ok maybe not a Rolex, but a Timex. But you get the idea. or Click here now this offer expires at midnight November 22, 2003. (specific time) 3.) Have a call to action: Tell your prospective targeted customer exactly what to do next. Be directive. Don't dilly-dally around. Just tell them what to do next. Be careful with this. It is an art. You don't want to sound demanding like a dictator. There is a way to say it and write it so it almost sounds like a request, but it's actually a direction. Examples: Call now. (Some people use explanation points here, I don't! It feels too demanding and could turn your prospective targeted client off and make them feel like you are giving them orders! A period is nice and neutral, but you're still giving direction.) Click here now to place your order. (Nice to throw a "you" or "your" in there, it is more reader involved and speaks directly to your perspective targeted customer) Sign up today. ( ahh, this is ok, but "now" is more immediate then "today." There are 24 hours in a day, but now is now, and forces your targeted customer to make a decision now, and not sometimes today - maybe later on - maybe never) 4.) Give a concrete "real" Guarantee: The only Guarantee that is "real" is to offer to give your customer back his money if he or she is not satisfied. Any other kind of guarantee is just meaningless words to your customer. If you say we guarantee customer satisfaction and quality service, but don't back it up with a money back guarantee, then you are just talking the talk. If you really want to turn window shoppers into paying customers, then walk the walk, and give a money back guarantee. Studies have shown that the better the guarantee, the less likely the product will be returned. If you feel you can't give a "real" guarantee then ask yourself why you can't. Do you doubt your own product? If you really believe in your product, then back that belief up with some teeth. Example: A limited guarantee: Our No-Hassle 30-day Guarantee Try it out for 30 days, if you are not completely satisfied - send it back - and we will fully refund your money. No questions asked. (I don't know what's being sold here, but with a guarantee like that; I'm ready to buy it now.) A Lifetime Guarantee: Our lifetime Guarantee If you're not satisfied - for any reason - simply return the item and we will fully refund your money on the spot or replace it. No questions asked - no hassles. It's important to note here that a guarantee takes all the risk out of it for your customer. Your customer is thinking, I could lose my money. But, if you can make your customer feel like he or she has nothing to lose, then you will be turning window shopper into a paying customer. 5.) Hook your prospective customer with a compelling headline. A good headline is packed with your #1 or #2 benefit. And it is compelling - addressing a need or want of your prospective customer. The more specific the headline - the better it will pull. Many copywriters and Marketers spend 80-90% of their time working on the headline. Why? Because they know their customers will not even see what they have to offer if they are not drawn in first from a compelling headline. Water Gardens That Upset The Neighbours
By Maisy Day Before going ahead with any plans on your water garden be sure to double check on all the safety measures. We all know the dangers that lurk where ponds and children are concerned but if all the standards of safety are adhered to then there should be no problem. Whatever precautions have been taken just remember that young children should not be left unattended or unsupervised around water at any time. Ponds make a beautiful water garden feature just like the flowing fountain. Water gardens are a pleasurable experience to become involved with and also beautiful as eye candy to a lot of nature`s creatures. If tastefully designed - these garden ornamentations can create an atmosphere where a deep sense of tranquillity fills the air just by sound alone.
Depending on the individuals own personal preference you can have water features that are specially designed to give you a tropical world or an imitation of a mini Niagara Falls display. The options are endless as to what can go into your garden. Before putting into force any plans make sure to measure the space to be used - a cluttered water garden can spoil the beauty of it all. Once you have made your mind up on what water feature it is you are having then it is time to choose the right accessories to enhance the dish so as to speak. Flowers- shrubs and lilies for the pond along with the fish have to be carefully thought through to make your mission complete and your dream come true of having a wonderful garden.
Water features are a unique way of putting a finishing touch to a well maintained garden thus upsetting the neighbours leaving them green with envy. Architects when drawing up plans for local landscape projects will nearly always include a water feature. If DIY is your forte and you are going to take on the task your self in designing your own water garden then have a handy man at your side in the way of a do it yourself manual. Books and videos illustrate in great detail how to do the job right. Fabulous ideas for your creation can also be found from these. A master of any trade always uses the right tools - so make sure you have everything you need before starting the work. Maintaining a water garden is important especially ponds which need cleaning on a regular basis especially if home to fish.
When installing your fountain or pond you must remember all the other bits and bobs that you may already have located in certain areas of the garden. Things like access in and out of your garden shed or where the seating area is going to be for your patio table and chairs should not be hampered. Do not cut corners in trying to save the pennies because this can cost you dearly if the right tools are not used. Remember water features attract creatures. If our aquatic friends like toads - frogs and newts are not to your liking then consider plant pots around the garden over flowing with cascading fragrant flowers then leave the kitchen tap running - just a suggestion so you don`t miss out on a water garden feature. Hurricanes and Dating
By Lance Winslow If you are into the dating scene and you do online dating as a hobby and a way to kill time while meeting new people then you will be quite upset to learn that the 2006 Atlantic tropical hurricane season could possibly cut the power in your area or region for up to five to six weeks and that means there is no way you can contact anyone over the Internet. Often the cell towers are down and the power is out and you are reduced to food and water until the authorities rebuild power lines, clear roads and fix the water system. Hurricane season can play hell on your dating situation and make things rather tough. But do not despair because if you are with someone during the Atlantic tropical hurricane season then this can also build the long strong bonding relationship. In fact it is widely known that after horrific storm events there are many children who were conceived and nine months later there is a run on the hospital system with new babies being born. This is because hurricanes build relationships between humans and perhaps you can meet your soul mate and live through such adversity as a hurricane and become closer together. I sincerely hope you will consider all this in 2006 and that you will find the right person so you do not have to deal with the dating situation anymore. Graduate School Rankings
By Kent Pinkerton According to the U.S. Census Bureau statistics, people with a bachelor's degree earn on an average over 62 percent more than those with only a high school diploma. Over a lifetime, the gap in earning potential between a high school diploma and a graduate (or higher) is more than $1,000,000. Such figures act as a motivation for several students to pursue higher studies. Depending upon the course that they want to study, students decide upon certain schools to apply to. Different schools have become famous for different disciplines. Each top graduate school in the U.S. is renowned for certain specialties. This reputation makes students seek out universities as per specialties. In the field of education, Harvard University (MA), the University Of California and Stanford University (CA) are the leaders. The main players in the medical field are Harvard University (MA), John Hopkins University (MD) and Washington University in St. Louis. The field of engineering studies is dominated by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University (CA) and University of CaliforniaBerkeley. These universities attract brilliant students from over the world. Harvard University (MA), Stanford University (CA), University of Pennsylvania (Wharton) and Massachusetts Institute are the trendsetters in Business studies. The highest-ranked law schools in the country are Yale University (CT), Harvard University (MA) and Stanford University (CA). Every year there is a list published containing the names of the best graduate schools. There is a lot of hype attached to the ranking but it should be merely used as a guideline. Many colleges do not make it to the list but are well reputed and provide students with a good quality education. Generally, the national universities are rated as the best colleges. They provide academic excellence, have a good faculty, superb infrastructure and offer a wide range of subjects. The selection of an appropriate school should be made taking individual criteria into account. An objective assessment should compare ones interests and abilities with the schools infrastructure and excellence of the teaching faculty in the relevant course. If satisfied on these counts the school will fulfill all expectations. This kind of a decision can be reached taking ranking of the school as a good guideline. Choosing Ground Covers
By Robert Gettle When you switch from planting lawn grasses to planting ground cover the possibilities are practically unlimited. Grass is great for ball games, picnics, playing, and normal traffic areas. But grass requires more maintenance and uses more water than any of the rest of your landscape. Ground cover is a great complement to your grass lawn to minimize maintenance and add elegance to your landscape. Ground cover is a low-growing,ground-hugging perennial plants that carpet an area with blooms or usually colored foliage. The secret to using ground cover successfully is to choose the right ones.
Many varieties of plants make excellent ground covers. Are you tired of the extra maintenance it takes around trees or shrubs to keep them looking good? Use pachysandra or ajuga instead.
Under trees or on a slope where grass grows thin try ground huggers like barberry or lamium or vinca these plants will prevent erosion. Along a sunny walk or a bright spot in your garden try strawberry plants. In addition to the pleasing appearance there is the added bonus of the fruit. The plants will keep producing fruit for years to come. Creeping thyme is excellent between stepping stones .There is also the added benefit of the fragrance every time you walk through. Each step will produce waves of fragrance. The charming evergreen ground cover creeping wintergreen has a year round appeal. In spring small pinkish white bell-shaped flowers are followed by wintergreen-scented bright red fruits that last until the following spring. The lustrous bright green leaves also wintergreen-scented turn burgundy red in the fall. It grows 6 inches tall and spreads nicely once established. Prefers part to full shade in moist acidic soil rich in humus. There are also low growing of varieties of juniper which are over used as this is what most landscapers turn to as a staple ground cover. Ground covers require little maintenance after they are established. Ground covers maintain moisture levels and choke out weeds. Ground covers are especially good on slopes that are difficult to maintain. Ground cover should be enclosed in edging to keep it from becoming invasive. Use landscape timbers ,brick, or pavers to hold its growth in check. Another way to control it is to cut it back. Maybe you can find a friend to give it to.
